IBM is currently focused on increasing its presence in smaller, rapidly developing Indian cities as part of its plan to establish a presence in 40 Indian cities by 2013. By extending its network of regional branches, IBM is strengthening its ability to deliver more advanced technologies and services to its clients and partners across the country.
On the surface it seems like a missed opportunity, given the huge interest in all things video and the current focus on consumer electronics as the gauge of tech companies’ success. None of these products made it to store shelves this holiday season, at least none that I could find in the U.S.
The two companies have teamed up in the past for cloud computing initiatives. Roughly a year-and-a-half ago HP was revealed as one of the inaugural partners for Microsoft’s Windows Azure platform appliance, a private cloud box with public cloud attributes. The agreement would have Windows Azure platforms hosted in HP data centers. To date, that partnership hasn’t come to fruition.
